The IL Secondary Program offers high school credit courses that focus on oral communication, reading and writing in a language other than English or French. Students will develop intercultural understanding and will use the target language to communicate and interact in a variety of social and academic settings. The Ontario credits can be used towards high school diploma completion as well as post-secondary admissions.

The Credit Course Program Offers
(secondary courses)
 
  • Language courses for students Grades 9 to 12
  • 3.25 hours on Saturdays, September to June (9am – 12:30pm)
  • Summer courses available in July, Monday to Friday
  • Oral communication, reading and writing
  • Cultural exploration and intercultural understanding
Fees
Fees per student per language class, and are non-refundable
 
Funded Student | Ontario residents
FREE tuition 
Nominal enhanced materials costs may apply
 
Non-funded Student | Out-of-province residents, international students paying tuition fees, audit students
$450 (tuition + consumables and resources fee)
 
Earn Up To Three Credits
(one credit per year)
 
The Ontario international language credit levels are as follows:
  • Level 1 – ‘BD’ Grade 10 credit (prerequisite: none)
  • Level 2 – ‘CU’ Grade 11 credit (prerequisite: completion of Level 1)
  • Level 3 – ‘DU’ Grade 12 credit (prerequisite: completion of Level 2)
*’DU’ IIL credit is equivalent to the pre-university ‘4U’ credit used for post-secondary applications.
Students will be placed in an IIL credit level by the IILP administration according to Ministry-required prerequisites. If a student has completed an IIL credit outside of the CECCE, please send proof of credit to the IILP.
Important!
For non-CECCE students, proof of address and status in Canada is required.

The secondary credit courses are overseen by the principal of Éducation permanente, Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE), and funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
